Today is World AIDS Day, a day that reminds me of the decades-long fight for dignity, science, and compassion. We’ve come so far because activists, researchers, and communities refused to be ignored.

Over the last ten months, two out of three of the flag fliers in my neighborhood took theirs down. It's a relief

Stealing ebooks is never cool. Really need your books free?? Libraries, of course, and look for author ARC groups and sign up for NetGalley! Yes you'll be asked to review, but it's not theft AND the review will help the authors sales!!!

We white folks need to come right out and say, not just defund ICE, but ABOLISH ICE.

We should not have these jackbooted thugs abducting people off the streets and abusing them in illegal concentration camps.

You mean the company that's currently being struck by its workers and the company that's currently being boycotted because of its terrible DEI policy rollbacks? Why not just call this the Chocolate Mint Racist Scab Frostie?

It’s not mental illness to be anxious when people are fucking with your healthcare. It’s not wrong to be depressed when powerful people choose evil and suffering. Feeling things about a crisis does not mean you are broken, even if the crisis is perpetual!

I think there is a difference between reacting to reviews that are about the work and ones that, like you said, are assuming things about the author.

heads up to anyone who holds trans kids near: amy harmon from the nyt is searching for and having a hard time finding people to interview to find out exactly what trans kids are doing when their care is limited or cut off, and for purposes of community safety, please shut the fuck up around her.

I think it really says something awesome that the depiction is of him being entirely happy to be on a crowded subway among people just living their lives. Like he's barely taller than the crowd. He's of them and among them

There is light at the end of this tunnel.

Keep fighting.
Keep organizing.
Keep voting.
Keep protesting.
Keep boycotting.
Keep informing.
Keep resisting.
Keep hoping.

We will not only get through thisβ€”we will end fascist and oligarchic rule, and build a democratic future that works for all of us.

They gutted the Washington Post. CBS. NYT. Now Teen Vogue.

The point isn't to bring in more conservatives. They've reached that saturation point.

They are killing the fourth estate and buying up the social media to control the messages we see. These were all targeted to disarm the left of truth.

Reminder that Spotify has still not gotten rid of their ICE ads. They think they can just stay silent without answering to the public. Let’s show them how wrong they are, let’s hit them where it hurts! These corporations don’t understand anything unless it hurts their bottom line.

About | Literary Arts Fund The Literary Arts Fund advances support for the nonprofit literary arts field toward ensuring creative writers’ contributions to American literature for generations to come.

Enormous news for US literature. A new, Mellon-led, $50 million fund for nonprofit literary orgs and publishers. Closest thing we've ever had to it was Mellon and Wallace in 1991, which, in today's dollars, was still less than half this. Open call begins Nov 10. literaryartsfund.org/about/

If I were running the DNC, there would be Democratic Party sponsored food relief banks across the country right now that specifically welcomed anyone regardless of party affiliation.

Along with the food, there could be voter registration and links to runforsomething.net

I *wanted* to like Mayfair. I like the actor who plays Rowen, many of the side characters are awesome. But the general plot jerks Rowen around without giving us solid growth and Lasher doesn't have the charisma to carry his season 2 plot

I would give Mayfair a pass for now. Season 1 was all right, season 2 ripped all potential to shreds. It isn't the same vibe as IWTV. I'm excited for what Talamasca will add to the 'verse tho.

I think there can be some credit to this gripe. Oth, authors should get to break conventions. Like these two examples I *get*, but maybe in context they were worse?

I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.
