Was this message meant for me? Are you thinking of Annie Proulx? The Shipping News is the only one that I have read by her too ๐Ÿ‘

I hated the Iranian regime, but love Tehran. Some of the nicest people in the world. Terrible to see it (and so much of Iran) bombed. US and Israeli hubris/aggression pretending that they want to improve the lives of Iranians.

The Go-Betweens talk sexism with Andrew Denton (1988)
YouTube video by triple j The Go-Betweens talk sexism with Andrew Denton (1988)

Each day we have to battle with sexism -I try to meet it with the style and cool composure of women who did it on the public stage, before us

When a woman is called โ€œloudโ€ or โ€œcrazyโ€, it is usually because she has spoken a truth others would rather silence.

Be awkward & keep being loud

Plan to turn Irish borderlands into Unesco โ€˜region of literatureโ€™ Arts group proposes literary routes across 11 counties linked to writers from Jonathan Swift to Lisa McGee The border between Ireland and Northern Ireland used to draw smugglers, paramilitaries, police and soldiers, but the landscape of twisting lanes and hedgerows may soon entice a new type of visitor: literary pilgrims. A plan is under way to rebrand it as Irelandโ€™s โ€œnorthern literary landsโ€ and to create the worldโ€™s first Unesco region of literature. Continue reading...

A beautiful collaborative film for International Women's Day made by poet Hanan Issa, Eleeza Khan and some inspiring women from Cardiff to support Athika Ahmed and voice collective rage and rejection of hatred and violence against women.
