07.11.2025 12:06 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Deadbolt Ellen Harrold Grease the filigree with fresh marrow. Stop-gap mechanisms need the movement to push and click thrpugh metal intestines. The process ingrained in the architecture, now rotting under termite tracks. Stainless steel melts in the furnace, rusts in the scrap heap. Churned out by thw thousand, chieftans and kings would gaze in awe at our ikea doorhandles.
For this weeks #PoemsAbout #LockedDoors with @alanparrywriter.co.uk and @thebrokenspine.co.uk I wanted to focua on the locks themselves. The complex mechanisms and feats of engineering that are taken for granted.

Barbed Oh, there in the fence! Fresh-woven oxygen awash with luminous beads. Caught in the refractions between shallow light and mist ascending the nettled banks. Sunlight speckles across the mattes, interlaces and permeated with hues of tallow . Every strand catches incisors, caking to earthen consistency. Rusted shut and rotting amidst the dew. Itโs thickest round a bleary patch of barbed wire. Near covered in curls of fern. Corrugated plastic still shines where the sun hits low, bridging a meagre gap in the treeline. You have to know itโs there.
For this weeks #PoemsAbout #Blood (great hashtag) with @alanparrywriter.co.uk and @thebrokenspine.co.uk I'm focusing on amateur forensics and the traces of stories that get left behind.

24.10.2025 10:43 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0There are no circumstances where human beings should be without food. There are no qualifications that make someone undeserving of access to food. If you are a human being, you should get food. I donโt care about ability, job status, legal status, or anything else. If people are hungry, feed them.
23.10.2025 23:16 โ ๐ 3189 ๐ 865 ๐ฌ 51 ๐ 34For this weeks #PoemsAbout #BurnForTheCamera with @alanparrywriter.co.uk and @thebrokenspine.co.uk I want to look at social media politics and the lack of political literacy that leads to cult-like worship of political parties. 17.10.2025 14:24 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I love the formatting of this piece and the natural flow between casual and anatomical language. Showcases the nuace of everyday experiences for different people really well. โ๏ธ
17.10.2025 11:49 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0CLINICAL TRIAL Ellen Harrold Rank crescendos haunt the charts, calculated to within an inch of their life. The number could still go down: Petty tributaries dispensed among the investors. Flecks of metal ripped from the soil - a new face imported. Morning silence shattered, cement for the untread soil. The sun hangs low - you stop for a moment weave the air to a supple pause - still. The screen illuminates scant peripherals. You can see the buttons, not the hand - hesitating at the edge. Reading the palm of Chronos, rendered finite by prescription. Punched in, enough accuracy to survive the dawn chorus. They will one day sell it back. Automated efficiency, driving guesswork from the process of existence. It works on paper, rendered pulp. Soaking up the statistics. Nevermind, my guess was wrong. An outlier, rank display of human error. Best avoided if one wishes to continue the programme
Back on to #PoemsAbout after a brief sabbatical while starting a new job. For #BreakTheMould with @thebrokenspine.co.uk and @alanparrywriter.co.uk . I wanted to discuss the limitations of clinical trials for medical devices and the variety of human experience. #poetry
