While i do agree in general, i also think that public discourse changes very slowly, and targeting low hanging fruit is worthwhile. You need to hammer the points for years before things change. (Case in point: Mental health and social media, or smartphone bans in schools).

Musing on sone of the papers in this thread and it feels like the risk of AIs is that LLM use causes people to misalign themselves to their own human needs, agency, cognition, and values; ceding them before the font of algorithmic inputs which are taken as more valid than their own intelligence.

Interpolatable archives are very powerful extented mind technologies, and the danger they pose is *not* because they hallucinate or are unreliable, but precisely because they are useful and powerful, allowing for offload-maxxing through seductive and mimetic natural language interfaces.
