Pintail, a duck with a long neck and a pointed tail, head is brown, bill is steel blue, body grey and cream, it's on the the water clsoe to shore.

Siskin, a smallish finch with a black cap, yellow-green plumage and stripy underparts on a white belly. It's feeding upside down on tree by the canal.

Good to find the Siskin flock back at the Birdham end of Chichester canal this morning, heard them chattering away initially before they did a nice fly around. #ukbirding

The regular seawatchers at Selsey Bill this morning were rewarded, after an unpromising start in heavy rain, with an excellent 335 Red-throated Divers west. Three Red-necked Grebes west together (unusual!), four Slavs west, two close Fulmars, a Velvet Scoter and two GND the best of the rest.

Glossy Ibis, a mid size wader with greeny brown shiny plumage and a down curved bill. It's feeding in a flooded field.

Killdeer, a plover with an extra neck band what can I say, nice orange rump though. A bit overcast and a bit distant for pictures for me.

super surprised to find the Killdeer still here at Ripley res. this morning!

The Slavonian Grebe showed well in Chichester & the Snow Bunting was again at East Head this morning #ukbirding

An excellent weekly round up as always by the County recorder. Still a good number of the rarer White Fronts and a few Tundra Bean Geese about.

A Raven in Honer 1 Pagham North Wall field was the highlight of a family walk this morning. Three WFronts still present in Honer 2, couple of M Harriers about and a few Redwings the best of the rest.

Nice to catch up with the drake Long-tailed Duck at Norton and the drake Goldeneye at the creek was equally eye-catching

A sedate start to the year but a few Selsey area scarcities tracked down: Woodcock, Coal Tit, Treecreeper and White-fronted Goose being the best. I couldn't find the BN Grebe on Pagham Lagoon though.

62 the latest count, 51 apparently on the deck and i had another 11 over the spit, decent count for here

105 cattle egrets out of the arundel roost, also male h harrier out early, couple of ravens over, tawny owl, still plenty of finches along the Arun #ukbirding

Three hen harriers, m and two ringtails, c7 marsh harriers and gw egret into roost at the Arun this evening. Hawfinch along the riverbank, various finches over and two flyover mandarins the best of the rest. #ukbirding

Long-tailed Skua, two Balearics and a Sooty Shearwater at Selsey Bill this morning

Two spot flys, male redstart, two whinchat, wheatear, ruff pagham north wall/halsey's fm area this morning. Best at the Bill: 30 yellow wags, male whinchat.

Not much today either, fin whale and sunfish the highlights (apparently 25 storm petrels and 2 Balearic seen too but not by me 🤣🤣🤣....), no birds to speak of ...

Extremely slow offshore from Fowey yesterday, just a few auks of note and no birds working, unsurprising given the easterly wind. No cetaceans which was surprising! Back out from Falmouth today.

Rame pretty quiet in the easterly wind, best were c.300 kittiwakes offshore, t pipit over and a single wheatear

Scattering of migrants around Rame Head this morning after the fog: tree pipit, wheatears, willow warblers, nothing moving offshore unsurprisingly, nice local church.

We require a knowledgeable birdwatcher to lead the team that produces the highly respected annual Sussex Bird Report, described by @birdguides.bsky.social as ‘a gold standard of county bird reports’.
