An important response to the IHRA debate - many Jewish staff at Edinburgh (myself included) believe it must be scrapped.

I wanted to share a few thoughts recent discussions around CGE’s decision to partner with JKR for their upcoming @codenamesgame.bsky.social game have prompted. Thankful to those who spoke early to this issue (Marceline, Tiffany, @nopunincluded.com et al) for helping this get the needed attention.

Very well put Rodney, especially the emphasis on (not) financially supporting Rowling and the causes she personally finances. That's a crucial point that I think people miss sometimes, this isn't a case of objecting to the art as such, but rather to the negative use that the proceeds are put to.

I hope they can do better with this new starter set, as it's a great system and the supporting materials are excellent in terms of world building, etc. Lost Mines for D&D 5E still seems like the gold standard to me (despite the flaws of the system itself). Another Bug Hunt is also pretty excellent.

I like a lot of the material in the original starter, and have had a fun time running it, but the adventures feel quite tough to run for a first-time GM, being weirdly on rails and therefore leaving a lot of gaps when your players inevitably decide to do something different.

We just demo'd Chicago '68 for new players last night. Really interesting game state emerged when the Demonstrators super charged their improvised barricades on round 1. They rerouted the police away from the Convention and led rapid marches through multiple interconnected rally points.

Totally agree, it's helped me get back into RPGs after a long break and feels like a real breath of fresh air!

Tonight I got a chance to play Cross Bronx Expressway, and, wow, I cannot say enough great things about it! We played 1940-1960, and it was such a rich experience navigating the competing institutions and urban development that affected the Bronx population. So much history! Can't wait for my game!

Origins Day 1 highlights include A Gest of Robin Hood, Cross Bronx Expressway, In the Shadows, and Microverse! I love meeting new people and teaching these games, especially to gamers who don’t expect them out of @gmtgames.bsky.social.
