Aren't conservatives against governments building/twinning pipelines? Why is Premier Smith pushing this project so hard when there's no private proponent?

I'm not a fan of how the notwithstanding clause has been used, but this case has no legal merit. The whole point of the clause is to pass otherwise unconstitutional laws. Quite frankly, we wouldn't even have a Charter in the first place if it wasn't for the inclusion of this clause

The reason for why efforts for Canada to become a republic must be opposed is similar to what's happening here: it undermines Indigenous sovereignty
P.S. I do believe that Québec is a nation and a distinct society

At the end of the day, this will essentially be a zero sum game for the parties. It's voters who will end up losing, being less effectively represented in districts that make no sense. Democracy loses either way. Still, it's better to mitigate losses

Cette tendance indépendantiste parmi les jeunes québécois de 18 à 34 ans est très dangereuse et intrinsèquement coloniale, car elle impliquerait l’imposition unilatérale d’une république québécoise aux peuples autochtones du Québec.

This sovereigntist trend among young Québécois(e) 18-34 is very dangerous and inherently colonial because it would imply a unilateral imposition of a Québécois(e) republic onto Indigenous peoples in Quebec.

One common criticism of arguments favouring amendment is that provinces would never agree. But that doesn't apply here, since it'd only affect the feds.
So I ask, would this be an acceptable infringement of parliamentary sovereignty?

At a time when the climate crisis is afflicting Canadians like never before, & at a time when child poverty rates are rising swiftly, this is what the Carney ministry is choosing to focus on at an unprecedented speed. Where could this money be spent on instead?

Sidenote: BC is such a weird province. We're a "green" province but we sure love our gas! 🤑

It's 12am now. Goodbye consumer #carbon pricing. It was nice knowing you. You are literally my favourite policy. You make so much sense. You are efficient. The costs of pollution should be visible. I will miss you dearly. Get ready for income tax increases!

As a Western Canadian myself, I empathize with these folks. But, I think they're upset for the wrong reasons. #Climate change hurts/will hurt Western #Canada a lot too. In just the Prairies alone, it's projected to cost $16 billion annually by the 2050s!
