Original sketch, World Baseball Classic logo, 2005. Everything starts with something, somewhere, somehow. Back then you got a sense of what the event's potential could be, but you had to squint a little bit and project forward, far into the future.

The great @toddradom.bsky.social created the original World Baseball Classic logo, which is still in use today (with a few minor tweaks over the years). Three years ago he joined me on the Baseball By Design podcast to discuss that project.

In 2017 the Chicago White Sox hired designer Todd Radom to create custom ticket designs for each of their home games.

Not sure if they created a poster of that Dick Allen design but that’s a HUGE missed opportunity if they didn’t. 😍

I created the look of the event back then, from branding to ticket designs to the championship medals—gratifying to see the event take hold + flourish
