Not for good reasons mind you, it is entirely because of the issue of data brokers and just how much data these corporations have on people. It only slows down how much space they are taking since they very actively have not been challenged in courts over their tactics.

Unfortunately due to the nature of politics within the US regarding these large Internet/Tech companies, it gave many companies the ability to become monopolies. (Don't get me started on how Apple fucked everything up) Right now they are just starting to roll back a few of their privileges.

Extremely difficult at this point for a genuine competitor for Youtube due to Google cornering the entire space after the buyout. Closest thing to a competitor is Bilibili imo.

I'm not really sure what to do for Gridlock this year. I could probably find a team and make podium again, or just kinda chill out with friends and spectate for the first time. I don't really know since I've haven't played comp for a while after LUTI which has been making feel a bit depressed.

If anyone is curious about the little pocket thing, it's for a stylus for my switch lite I did a shell swap for.

Also, I've known Light since middle school and they still owe me matches in Splatoon. (They have definitely forgotten about me since they forgot who I was when we were in the same high school)

Defintely just a mental thing btw, since my intro the comp Splatoon was pretty harsh in retrospect so, ultimately what I was more afraid of back then was falling out of love with the game with possible bad experiences that make me stop. Which I'm happy to say was not the case (as you can see).

On a more personal lore drop, the reason I avoided comp Splatoon for so long probably has to do with my experiences with comp Smash, mainly that I tried to play a few locals to learn the game but got very quickly demotivated after watching a player around the same age as me in locals (it was Light).

I was like, super concerned on like 5 badges the entire time tho, since they alone make it agony. (Tableturf 999, Player Level 999, X Rank Top 10, Grizzco Gold Points, and the worst offender Gold Shell Out Machine.)

I was missing a lot of the 5 star badges and the grizzco badges, so yeah that made up the 30% mostly.

iirc the max possible badges was 602, due to being unable to get both regional X rank badges. I was hovering around the 420 range badge wise. So the second they introduced the 10 Star Badges it drastically increased the amount of weapon badges in the pool so the max is around 1000.
