Once, some friends organized a small meetup at the Comic Con hotel bar dressed as Multiple Man; Peter and his wife showed up and spent the night just shooting the shit with us. Then at night they both have such a strong instinct to sit on the eggs all night that they BOTH sit on the nest. One bird sits on the other. They fight and peck at each other constantly! Although they seem to have come to some sort of understanding and tolerate each other much better now. Here are some pictures and videos of these very stubborn and devoted mother robins. I can tell them apart by their markings by their eyes. And I can tell they are both females by the way the mothers settle onto the eggs and cover them with their brood patch.
