I confess that Mamdani, whom I ranked second to Brad Lander in my own primary vote, gives me rare hope at a time when I, like so many others, have soured on the Democratic old guard. After the primary, I was curious to meet him and did at the Brooklyn home of a mutual friend. What I saw is what he projects in his campaign. A smart, focused guy who listens to others and welcomes tough questions; who is transparent and consistent on the core political convictions that guide him; who is not an ideologue or a glib Pez dispenser of consultantspeak; and, no less important, who knows what he doesn’t know.

It’s quite impressive how Mamdani has pulled almost every Dem into his coalition, not him into theirs. He keeps the door open for everyone but true enemies (Adams, Cuomo) & rather than try to extort a Hochul into a promise, he just puts her onstage & lets the popular will confront her. Amazing.

wow. zohran brought one of cuomo’s accusers, charlotte bennett, to the mayoral debate. he asked cuomo what he would say to his 13 accusers of sexual harassment. cuomo said it takes “a certain level of maturity to work in government” and that the cases were resolved anyway. fucking scum.

I can't really explain fully why this is the thing of all things that got my jaw on the floor but I guess it's such a literal symbol and also such a jaw dropping amount of money while small businesses are struggling to survive the tariffs

The largest mass protests by number of participants in US history happened yesterday and the only mention on the front page of the NYT is Jamelle Bouie's opinion column: no diner-diving for sentiments of the unheard masses, no coverage of the Trump video, no sense for what it says about the moment.

I say all of the time that sincerity is a virtue and it is. I like earnestness.

It's less than 24 hours after 5-8 million Americans marched against a president who called them domestic terrorists, and there is zero reference to it on the current NYT home page, except for a Bouie op/ed that came out several days earlier.

I am sick as a dog, but incredibly grateful for the No Kings contingent that was 1 block away from my CityMD in Harlem. ✊

Brooklyn No Kings was inspiring, wonderful, joyous, exactly what i needed. Whenever you’re feeling demoralized, find a protest. Community is what will save us.
