I’m just teasing you. But yeah it’s similar to lipreading realizing the error and having to correct it in your brain all while listening to the next bit of info 😅

It's over. It's never been more over. It will shock you how much it's over.

me as a kid: wow I can't wait until we have robots and computers for everything

me now: if this toaster makes me download an app I am slipping out into the night to start a new life as a mysterious figure occasionally glimpsed in the fog

I agree, but there are so many nuances that I wouldn’t be sure how to capture? Like the adverbs?

I got a flu booster today and it made me reflect on the sense of national accomplishment I felt when I drove to a public facility, waited in my car until my number was called on an app, and got my first covid jab. It's fucked the right gets to erase what a moment of technological liberation that was

In perhaps the Most Philadelphia thing ever, I've recently learned that my 7 y.o. hard-of-hearing kid thinks the middle finger is ASL for "honking the horn" 🙈🙈

Just had a hearing woman ask me today at a deaf coffee chat that “since you have a cochlear implant now you can hear. So do you even need sign language?”
Considering we were outside and the wind is blaring into the microphone of my CI, yes I still do need ASL. 🫠

I don't know why YouTube didn't make it so only the channel manager can approve the submitted subtitles / captions.

It was a bad decision for YouTube to allow anyone with two accounts to review and approve community captions. Of course that feature got exploited when grifters caught wind of it.

One of the worst things (personally) about YouTube removing community captions is my eyes hurt now from trying to make sense of the auto-captions.

I’m always in awe of how ASL evolves and grows. I’d love a centralized Deaf history museum that has old videos of ASL on display, various accessibility tech, hearing assistive technology, and De’Via art.

I think kids should not be constantly watched by their parents all the time, with the amount of supervision decreasing as the kid ages.

Apparently some people find this bizarre and think that parents should know everything a 15 year old does.

I refuse to. I have it shared with back up emergency friends if needed.

I'm going to be chuckling about that all day.

Check out my list on Amazon

Hi friends! I’ve fallen into a teacher and mentor role working with Deaf/HOH kids ages 0-22 in homes, schools and beyond!

With such a wide range of ages and placement, I’m slowly building up my supplies.
I’d love if you could share or contribute to my wish list!

We need to teach people the difference between being uncomfortable and being unsafe. Because the discomfort of the safest people is endangering the most vulnerable, all day every day.

I actually can and will judge people who are using environmentally devastating technology built on mass theft to create a fictional partner who does nothing but tell how great they are.

People didn’t “used to be fine” without air conditioning during heat waves in the U.S. - a lot more people *just died*.
