za'atar and sumac are elite spices btw. you can put sumac in anything that you would put lemon in and it adds acidity without liquid. endlessly useful

all my friends kids' are too young/too homeschooled to be selling magazine subscriptions for fundraisers, if they even do that any more, but it seems a waste to subscribe to a magazine without supporting some small nonprofit.

the key point is that it's not a birthday party for me. it's a combined birthday party for all of my guests.

the important thing about the party is it needs to be low energy. kids parties nowadays sometimes have like elaborate agendas. i'm going for stay at home mom who has other things on her mind, like running a girl scout troup and school committee volunteering
