02.03.2026 16:43 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0On a cheerier note. Here is an alien cake my granddaughter and I made. The brief was purple alien with 6 eyes and two tongues. Sugar free it is not!

26.02.2026 05:47 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Yes I have reservations about that but the plan also puts money for training mainstream teachers with modern SEND practices. That has to be a good thing.
23.02.2026 12:08 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Ive tried to explain what is happening the subtext. Yes there will be fewer EHCPs but the headline figure there will be accessing a new type of plan not just ignored. The children won’t go away. And I promise I’m not a bot. Too old for that.

No I absolutely agree that aspect has been appalling But hopefully this will prevent it from happening.
If the schools access the £ easily and quickly they will be quicker to support the children and families that need help.
Schools aren’t evil bodies that hate kids. They want to be able to help.
Autistic and neurodivergent students were the ones I worked with and I well understand the problems they face accessing support. The new ISPs should be an improvement for them. No need to resort to personal insults 🤫
23.02.2026 11:54 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Thats just silly. And not a helpful contribution to debate.
23.02.2026 11:52 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 3 📌 0I disagree. For one thing the schools will now be able to access the funding directly to provide for the ISPs. We will have to wait and see but from my perspective this is a long overdue reform of a sadly not effective system.

Finally announced, the shape of the SEND reforms
Most will get new individual support plans (ISPs) in mainstream schools - with increased funding for therapists
EHCPs only for most severe case starting from 2035. Those who are KS1 or younger will be reassessed at secondary transition.
ex Teacher and manager in special education here. This is a positive step forward. I’m sure school and parents will welcome the changes.
23.02.2026 11:49 — 👍 13 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0I understand your comments but actually private sector funding will be reduced under this plan. For years now some private sector bodies have made a killing out of special provision that was substandard. No longer
23.02.2026 11:44 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Yes I was. Please the document and then come back to me. otherwise we are wasting each others time.
23.02.2026 11:42 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0It’s the wording of the document. Yes there will be fewer EHCPs but they will introduced a new, quicker to access funding plan written by teachers and parents that offers immediate support
23.02.2026 11:41 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0They are changing them to another plan which is quicker to access, and canbe written by parents and teachers so offers an immediate access to funding. Please read the document before getting shouty

23.02.2026 11:33 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 3 📌 0Now, yes. I’m retired. But it doesn’t dismiss my experience. And is that the only argument you have against my comments? Tell me, have you read the details of the plan?
23.02.2026 11:33 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I have actually read this plan. I’m an ex teacher, over 30 years SEND experience. I was deputy and head of special units. This is a positive start. It’s backed up with £. It’s now down to the schools to implement well. Parents will be anxious but give it a chance. This could be what’s needed.

Our local hamlet is flooded. The River Vienne burst its banks. We are now an island and the only way in and out is by tractor. Our neighbour is providing a taxi service to our cars which we all managed to get to higher ground before it hit the fan.
This our friend going to work. #floods
Im making a coat from a sheep. Not as silly as it sounds. Wash the fleece, card it, spin it, weave it and sew it. Here is halfway through still with pins. I have to finish the edges and add a lining. #handspun #handweaving #wool
