One of our families in my class at school is Persian and we are all just clenching our buttholes for them, they've got family that is basically having to run from the hardliners. Our own hardliners don't even care about these kind of fallout effects. Here they consider themselves liberators.

So it turns out North Carolina is the last state in the Union with contributory negligence statute still on the books. My time as a juror was spent sitting in court listening to how a lady rode the chicken lane in the way of a cyclist, maiming him, and no accountability is viable because of the law.

I have tried to live by the idea of buying the crappiest tool the first time and use it till it breaks, and then buy the best one that works for the use cases I have proven I need it for. I think we're riffing on similar ideas here. Thanks again for all your input friend

Thanks, that saves me at least half a step of research. Which is not to say I won't continue but it gives me a great jumping off point!

It was also really good data about the things I got right: staying oriented directionally, making clear note of landmarks, generally not panicking 🤣 my two big items on my REI list are headlamps with actual battery life, and a hammock system that has shelter so I don't have to bolt in case of rain
