“One thing I love about writing in the Gilded Age and the Victorian Era is there was so much changing in society. You had so many people fighting for workers’ rights, for women’s rights, against racial injustice. People were out there fighting in the streets and in the court room and in Parliament, just like they are now. I love how you can see the parallels, while at the same time it’s a little removed for me as a writer. It’s not like I’m writing about today. I don’t know how people write contemporary romance today. It’d be really hard for me because I like the escape.” - Harper St. George

I'm heartbroken that historical romance isn't getting the love and support it deserves as a sub-genre. As @harperstgeorge.bsky.social put it on Rebel Ever After, histrom teaches us how we can fight oppression *now* by learning from the past.

Historical romance seems to be moving to indie. That’s exciting you’re putting some out! We need more from you ❤️

Yes, Berkley isn’t signing anymore historical romance from what I can tell.

Yay! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I’m aiming to release it Spring 2026.

“I don't know if we don't know history, or if we rely too much on the fiction we read, but some people call things ‘historically inaccurate’ that actually are accurate. I get called out a lot for my progressive heroes. People were actually fighting for these things back then! It wasn't just women. Mostly men were in positions of power, so you had to have men on your side or nothing would have gotten done, frankly.” - Harper St. George

Shockingly, there have always been progressive folks fighting for change throughout history! Kind heroes are not "historically inaccurate."

This week on Rebel Ever After, @harperstgeorge.bsky.social and I talked about why historical romance IS the escapism you are looking for right now.

Hyping hist-rom will continue until morale improves!!

The Gilded West series: The Runaway Heiress, The Copper Heir, The Bastard Heir, The Gilded Lady

I got the rights back to a Harlequin series of mine over a year ago. It’s taken me a while but I finally republished them myself. Eek! You can get all three books and the novella in ebook, paperback, and in Kindle Unlimited. I absolutely love the covers and I hope you do too

With everything so seemingly terrible these days & no sign of anything remotely hopeful in the near future, I thought you might need this photo of a baby giraffe.

The cover for ELIZA AND THE DUKE features the heroine in a flowing dark blue ballgown. She’s sitting on a blue carpet. Her skirts convey a sense of movement. Title and author name are in white. Gold flower and leaf motif across the bottom. Coming June 24th

I can finally share the cover for ELIZA AND THE DUKE. Isn’t it beautiful?! I can’t stop staring at it. An American heiress who must marry an aristocrat to get her inheritance meets a bare-knuckle brawler prizefighter who totally won’t destroy her carefully laid plans 👀🔥 preorder: bit.ly/3YS5G3K
