Is this notion that literally every single possibly objectionable, sexy, violent, mildly uncomfortable, boring, or just not what I personally find the best ever element of a work should be 100% tagged and avoidable.

We all have different tastes, but I sideeye people who utterly flip out if a book FOR ADULTS, NO LESS! has "sex" in it. Honey, grow the fuck up and skim the bits you don't want to read. I both understand and respect the fanfic community in general, but the one thing it did incubate in some people

Logical rebuttals don't work on book banners, so I'll try using their own language against them.

Like sure the NRA is only really committed to defending one really specific trans right, the right to own as many firearms as we can fit into our living spaces the same as cis people, but that's one more right than the Dems are committed to defending so here we are.

But mostly, yeah, not shopping with them is great and all, but the insidious nature of the beast is just what we've both been saying - you can go to a completely unrelated website for a completely unrelated reason and either that site or something it links to could be hosted at AWS and, ta-daa.

It's hugely profitable and the payment model is really good for anyone whose site varies in how much traffic it gets, because people can set their accounts to automatically get more or less hosting based on what is needed...

I mean MAYBE you could avoid all amazon anythings if you somehow knew exactly what every site was hosted on and that you are only going to sites that are hosted not via Amazon, but even then...

the problem is that shopping amazon dot com doesn't matter to their bottom line because a vast amount of the internet uses AWS services to run their websites.
