A weathered stone memorial in St Maryβs Cemetery, Kensal Green. The monument features a sculpture of an angel kneeling in prayer, her head bowed and wings folded gently behind her. She holds a small bouquet of flowers in her hands. The angel is framed by two carved stone pillars supporting a triangular pediment engraved with the name GANDOLFI. Beneath the angel, a dark marble plaque bears an oval ceramic portrait of a man, now faded with time. The surrounding graves and greenery, along with a cloudy sky, lend a peaceful atmosphere to the scene.

#31daysofgraves day 31 Memento Mori. Sadly the headstones at Dunblane Cathedral graveyard, with memento mori, are now mostly worn away. These images are all from Dunblane Museum. Staff & volunteers there are helping with a new graveyard audio tour, hopefully out soon. π€ Cheeky wee plug! π

The stone tablet reads:
In loving memory of Alexander Mackenzie, merchant, Glasgow, died 31st January 1875, aged 62 years
Alice Melrose his wife, died 4th January 1900, aged 82 years
Four other (presumably) family members are interred and listed, James, Agnes Nelson, Alexander Whitson, and James.

A cluster of Victorian gravestones in York Cemetery, in different colours surrounded by bare trees and a carpet of damp leaves. In the foreground stands a moss-covered headstone in a pale green, and the other white stone headstone has moss on the edges that almost looks neon. Other older, darker gravestones fill the background, giving the scene a quiet, reflective atmosphere typical of historic English cemeteries.
A weathered 19th-century gravestone in York Cemetery, made of stone with a green-blue patina and ornate Gothic detailing at the top. The monument bears multiple inscriptions, divided by a central stone ridge.
The stone stands among many other old gravestones, with fallen leaves on the ground and bare trees behind, a peaceful, autumn scene.

#31DaysOfGraves - Day #30 Colour
The municipal cemetery in Landau-in-der-Pfalz is also home to the historical Jewish Cemetery. The oldest stones are made from the local red sandstone which, unfortunately, isn't the most durable material for a gravestone. But there's a quiet beauty to them...
