This was the very first TV commercial for the NES that aired in 1985.

Notice the term "video game" wasn't mentioned once. This was after the video game crash of 1983 and Nintendo was very careful to separate themselves from it.

And it paid off. The NES was in 30% of US households by 1990.

and even if arcade perfect port only began with the neo geo and later on with the 32 bit consoles , the genesis and snes often had very decent ports that sometime where even better then the arcade likes Tmnt Turtles in times by having more contents and controls that where more responsive.

I'm from the 80's and yet I don't have much experience from the arcade , I remember playing a few games like two or 3 on-rail shooter with the lightguns , Tmnt the arcades games , superman and street fighters 2. almost everything I played during that time where on home consoles.

I feel you, I grew up in the 90s I was born in 87 but I never got to play too many arcade games in real life
