A poem from approximately a year ago and the sunset that inspired it

it’s the time of year when, in the span of 5 minutes, the sky will shift from a sour and insipid gray to a delectable and reassuring periwinkle, blooming with rosy-fingered twilight. in the spirit of preserving the moment, i wish in vain once again for a camera embedded in my eyes, capable of capturing what they see, all while wandering outside, inside, and to each dirty or cracked window in my house to take a photo. no snapshot seems quite right. and by the time i sit back down by the living room window to enjoy the view, it’s gone. the sky now an even darker and hopeless gray than before.

In a similar vein, do I have followers who’ve read and of the Discworld books featuring Death? Specifically Reaper Man? Because that book rewrote my brain in a good way and I’d love to talk more about it.

I’ve been really feeling called to deepen my understanding and relationship with Death, so I finally picked up this book. I’m ready to LEARN! ✨

December and January have been so rough. Between the general state of the world, seasonal sads on top of regular sads I feel like I haven’t caught enough of a break. The worst though was losing my sweet boy, Rory. 💕

I think I have fully accepted that I don’t want many people who know me irl to have access to this account so I changed everything up a bit. So. Hello again!

Not me but I work in a library and have found the following in books: a cigarette, a $500 check, used tissues, hair ties with hair in them, a plastic straw, and 5 different kinds of leaves pressed into a book about rocks and minerals.

My spose and I have what we call the “human reset button.” He or I will run a finger firmly from the tip of my nose to my hairline until I relax, using more pressure if needed. It’s very simple, discrete, and works even if I don’t need it. Sometimes it makes me pause and chill mid-sentence.

One of the biggest gifts from this year was my discovery of Emily Austin and her lovely books. I’ve read everything she has out and I haven’t had that “wow I love this author so much I have to read it all” feeling in YEARS.
