Messy emotions, the kind people may not always proud of, especially concerning love. I tend to tear up when writing difficult scenes of characters trying to navigate or confront these emotions.

Two main things: I can't write characters as complex as I imagine them to be, and my writing style is too simple/elementary. This whole book is a struggle (which I'm determined to complete though)

THESE WEREN'T THE ONLY ONES, BUT YOU GET THE IDEA... A screenshot showing various comments direct towards the author: Commentor 1: Way to go guys, let's shoot for 40! Commentor 2: You sound like every one of those privileged white people that can't FATHOM that others might want to enjoy their lives. It's an entirely human thing to seek out things we want and yes unethically. I wish people supported artists like this one but it is not a battle anyone can win. Piracy has been around since before the internet was invented. Like black markets and whatnot. Get off your high horse because you and I both know that you indulge in unethical things when it suits YOU. You are a few bad days from doing the same thing. Commentor 3: As much as it sucks pirating is at least allowing more people to access your books and discover you, which will lead to more money. It's also a little inevitable nowadays, so it's weird to act as if you're specifically targeted. Mentioning you're disabled and trans and need the income just comes off as guilt tripping. Your personal circumstances shouldn't matter to the consumer, they pay for quality books, not to fund your lifestyle. This post comes off as accusatory and a little entitled, so it's likely to have the opposite effect you intend.

I posted my trailer yesterday for The Devil in the Woods' updated ebook and soon to be paperbacks, but I really wanted to show the coverspread without text bc I'm very happy with it. The old one was old, and while it has a special place in my heart, I was glad to have the chance to remake the cover.
