The reason the population isn't bigger is because San Francisco is a 49 square mile peninsula and what you are referring to is the San Francisco Bay area

So Speaker Johnson threw a tantrum today & canceled votes for the rest of the week because he couldn’t wrangle enough support to block new parents from voting in Congress. I guess when you don’t get your way, you just shut it down and send everyone home? The American people didn’t elect us to pout.

The president of Princeton is standing up for academic freedom in the face of this onslaught:

The president of Harvard is not.

Good for Princeton and its leadership.

A bad day for Harvard, on many levels.

Instead of outlets doing how-to guides for Trump shredding the Constitution in search of a third term they could do how-to guides for Congress to impeach him for new actions every single day

But no, apparently Schumer team is saying that the tour is being postponed because of security concerns.

Rather than say, "Hey, we're in an ever-expanding constitutional crisis that demands all of my attention," it's "The Dem base is big mad and I'm scared of the optics."

Duckworth: Pete Hegseth Needs to Resign in Disgrace | U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth of Illinois The Official U.S. Senate website of Senator Tammy Duckworth of Illinois

Not a historian, but to my knowledge, this is the first time a sitting US Senator β€” or member of Congress, generally β€” or perhaps any senior US gov’t official β€” has included an f-bomb in an official press release.

David: Are you concerned about retaliation from the Trump administration because of this story?

Jeffrey: It’s not my role to care about the possibility of threats or retaliation. We just have to come to work and do our jobs to the best of our ability. Unfortunately, in our society todayβ€”we see this across corporate journalism and law firms and other industriesβ€”there’s too much preemptive obeying for my taste. All we can do is just go do our jobs.

A fantastically important postscript to this piece: David Graham asks Jeffrey Goldberg about possible retaliation, and Goldberg gives a perfect answer β€” with perfect swipes. www.theatlantic.com/newsletters/...

Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.

Feels like the main thing you should know about the Democratic Party is that three years ago they controlled a trifecta after Trump tried to launch a coup, and they dismissed everyone who said they should impose accountability and said β€œno, we know how to beat him at the polls: kitchen-table ads”

Do you know why rural and working people are listening to Walz and AOC and Bernie?

Because they tell the damn truth. Because they are passionate about people. Because they are authentic. Because they care.

They are the new face of the opposition.

NEWS: We polled our locals yesterday before Schumer's surrender asking what they would do to hold accountable Senate Dems who cave on the GOP bill.

67% said they'd show up at town halls or public events to express their anger.

78% said they'd support primary challenges.

We'll see where this goes.

@schumer.senate.gov If you vote for cloture you are a stain on this country’s history that will never go away. You are willingly passing power to a tyrant in waiting, and you are a disgrace to every oath of office any senator has ever sworn. Your legacy will be one of cowardice and contempt.

β€œIf you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”

Important to remind Congress everyday of facts:

1. POTUS immunity to break law, doesn't make it legal. He is still breaking the law.

2. Immunity is only protects against criminal charges in court system.

3. Impeachment is outside this, it's political, and Congress has duty to uphold Constitution.
