Hale takes the fire crystal and looks down at it with a soft smile. Krieg begins to depart, but not before stopping to rest his hand along Hale's pauldron. Krieg: Use any spare cloth you have to wrap it in and then tuck it in your hood. It will keep the chill away... Not as well as I do- Hale: Ha... I reckon it doesn't... a-and I don' s'pose you can be warmin' m'tent... Krieg: ...R-Right. I would hate for the others to suspect I may be choosing favorites... (whispered) But..... (He composes himself) .....Goodnight, Hale.

Krieg leans forward as he cups the side of Hale's face. The older man's gaze being brought back to him, Krieg, scoffing: (scoffs) If you did not argue with your healer we would not be here now, now would we? Hale: I- I s'pose so... Krieg: Mm. You are a difficult man to tend to, aren't you?

Hale's expression softens, almost sad, as Krieg continues to warm his face. Hale: I ain't tryin' t'be. I jus'... have a lot on m'mind. I 'preciate all y'do fer us, for me... Y'ain't here fer th'war an' yet... here y'are anyways. Krieg: Do not take my words to heart, Hale, it was in good faith. And I am content to help your efforts alongside my own... Please, talk to me. Hale exhales heavily, trying to ease the weight he feels in his chest.

Hale: Keepin' up with th'dragons changin' is wearin' on me... Tryin' to be th'best shield I can be... An' if that Cloudweaver finds us, I can't do anything. Krieg looks at him softly, trying to comfort, Krieg: Hale... Of course you can- Hale: I can't, Krieg. It's often heard but rarely seen. We got little knowledge t'work with, so all I can do is pray m'wrong. Pray that th'base got word in time.

Krieg grabs at the edge of his gloves along his fingertips, while Hale continues to sit and watch him, Krieg: Warm you up. I only need a small spark to cast warmth through my hands, the light should not be too bright that it attracts attention. So, may I? Hale: O- oh, if it's not too b-bright...

Despite Hales' words, Krieg crouches down to sit with him. Hale: Krieg, m'serious, y'really don't- Krieg, groaning: Save it, Hale. If you will not listen then neither will I... Stubborn man... And why do you not have anything warming you up?

Hale turns his head away from Krieg, Hale: Y'already know what m'orders were. Lights out 'til dawn. That goes fer all uhv'us. Krieg: That I understand, and why I did not ask about the lack of a fire. What happened to your fire crystal and bag of shards we handed out to everyone? Hale: I... the bag I still have... Split it up t'space out in m'cuirass. Th'crystal though I, uh... I handed it off t'Jerome. Th'boy is so small a light chill gets 'im. Krieg: Oh, Hale...

Krieg then moves and shifts to be resting on his knees, sitting upright in front of Hale. Krieg: You are selfless to the point of being careless. Hale: Huh?! Krieg: But I can not fault you, I would do the same. You will however regret it in the morning so, may I? Hale: Would I have made it this far bein' careless?... (sigh) ...May you... what, exactly?
