As football fans, why should we care about climate change?
Matches in the top league of Scotland called off due to prolonged rain, with it set to increase over the coming years.
Celticβs form isnβt good, but rescheduled games isnβt going help us the state we are in. #celticfc #climatechange
If you wish, you can pre-order my next running book from today. It's about how to be the best runner we can be as we age. Thank you! www.adventurebooks.com/collections/...

Sustainability is the great lie of the 2026 Winter Olympics.π€₯
The word βsustainabilityβ featured over a hundred times in Milanβs bid proposal but these Games were just another example of green lip service in elite sport.π§΅

3/3 - You can also lend your voice in a call for action.
The Friends of the Earth are petitioning the UK Government to put in place a water bill that puts clean water above private profit.
Next time you run along a river, make a plan to take action.
#HowWeSpeakOut
2/3 - Thankfully, there are many organisations fighting the good fight for the health of our rivers.
In the UK we have The Rivers Trust. Their website provides details of the many way in which green runners can take action.
Keep an eye out for the Big River Watch.

1/3 We all like to run alongside rivers, following muddy trails, cycle paths and pavements.
Taking time to stretch the legs & appreciate the wildlife, the blue flash of a Kingfisher, the yellow flowers of the water lilies.
But as we run we notice the impacts of pollution & waste. A global issue.
Love this. Great resource to help you keep your kit (and other stuff) working for you for longer.

What a brilliant idea. The lower Erme is one of my favourite places in Devon, and I can recommend getting your feet wet! 1/2

Running for our rivers.
John Mildmay-White is running 600km over 10 days to raise funds for Wild About The Erme.
The funds will enable their scientifically-qualified all-volunteer team to undertake the testing needed to identify the types, and potentially the sources, of pollution of the R Erme.
1/2 What's it like to be the last man standing?
Damian Hall, aka the path finder, aka @ultradamo.bsky.social is back from the Barkley Marathons #BM100.
Weβre interviewing him about mud, grit, and the "Climate Hypocrite" paradox.

John is a Green Runner and using his voice to protect his local river. You can follow his progress on Instagram.
Hereβs a link to Johnβs fundraising page.
We wish him well on his 10-day, 600 km charity solo run from the mouth of the River Erme in South Devon to London. ππ¦
John says: βI wanted to do something that would highlight the plight of our river and many others across the UK suffering similar problems. If more people take positive actions for their local river we really can make a difference.β

Gear; mental strength; carbon footprint. No question too small or too awkward.

Article screenshot. Featured photo shows installation of Olympic rings covered in oil with the words Sponsored by ENI beneath, and a Greenpeace activist alongside with banner saying, Kick Polluters Out Of The Games. Title of article: Will the International Olympic Committee stand with athletes or Big Oil?
The question now is simple: Will the Olympics listen to athletes, fans and scientists and end fossil fuel sponsorship?
Or will it continue to shelter planet-heating corporations behind the Olympic Rings?

1/2 - Beeston parkrun was the venue for our Nottingham local meet-up this morning.
It was wonderful to welcome Elliot, Vicky, Cameron, Heather & Neil to their first Green Runners meet-up as they joined Tracey, Su, and Kev for a muddy puddle parkrun.

Using our badge is a great way to speak out. I wore my badge to an event last week and it resulted in a chat with a runner about what it is to be a green runner. #HowWeSpeakOut
And using a badge as a patch is a brilliant way to extend kit life. #HowWeKitUp
βThey pushed so many lies about recyclingβ: the fight to stop big oil pumping billions more into plastics
Interview with @bethgardiner.bsky.social - author of new book Plastic Inc.

Help @greenpeaceuk.bsky.social get the message across to the UK Government that they need to get tough on supermarket plastic.
Greenpeace are petitioning for the UK Government to push for a Global Plastics Treaty that reduces plastic production.

Some decent mileage in those shoes. Great to see.
Keeping shoes on our feet and out of landfill.
PS Ignore the mention of 300-500 miles for shoe life. Regular readers of our posts will know that the advice is out-dated, misleading and used by manufacturers to drive over consumption. Love the shoes you own.

Lots of good advice in this article on how to reduce the cost of a marathon.
Supporting your local marathon is great for reducing costs, reducing carbon emissions (over 90% of emissions for events arise from travel) and supporting your community.
Great to see recommendations re preloved kit.
Another great post race interview with @ultradamo.bsky.social and previous Barkley Marathon runner James Elson.
