Each ITAP was co-created by partner universities to embed innovation, entrepreneurship, and transformation into their institutional DNA, from fostering student entrepreneurial skills to building partnership strategies for stronger engagement.

The session showcased how HEIs drive innovation and societal change through:

- Strong policy foundations
- Targeted acceleration services
- Collaborative digital infrastructures
- Sustainable institutional transformation

Accelerate Future HEI, aUPaEU, and CATALISI came together at the Interreg Europe event “Connecting regions, empowering universities through stronger R&I policies”, co-organised by the Interreg Policy Learning Platform and UIIN.

• Brainstormed funding models and ecosystem partnerships for long-term sustainability.
Partners’ energy and insights made for a lively, solution-focused discussion. These reflections will help us co-create practical sustainability pathways and shared recommendations, for our next Policy Brief.

The Institutional Transformation Action Plan (ITAP) has acted as a catalyst for systemic change at the Universidad Europea de Canarias (UEC). It shifted the university from fragmented and isolated initiatives to a coordinated and cohesive entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The program is designed to be flexible and will continue to adapt as new needs emerge, ensuring that universities and their staff are equipped to drive change in education, research, and innovation.
