This why we can't trust the Liberals to deliver on their promises. They helped the Conservatives break the healthcare system. Vote Jen Deck in #Ptbo! πŸŠπŸ‘

Ontario NDP Leader Announces Plan to End Encampments and Tackle Homelessness

Ontario NDP Leader Announces Plan to End Encampments and Tackle Homelessness

After seven long years, Doug Ford’s legacy is encampments in every single town and city in our province.

Seeing tents in parks is a stark reminder of how utterly Ford has failed Ontario – on housing, health care, creating good jobs, and making life more affordable.

As Premier, I will end chronic homelessness and make encampments a thing of the past.

We will take a housing-first approach, put a roof over people’s heads, and connect them with the supports they need.

βœ… Build 60,000 supportive housing units: safe, permanent homes with wraparound supports like mental health care and addiction treatment.

βœ… Upload shelter funding to the province: cities shouldn’t be left scrambling to fund shelters while Ford hoards money.

βœ… Expand housing benefits: moving people out of shelters into homes, freeing up shelter space, and helping more Ontarians get back on their feet.

βœ… Prevent homelessness before it happens: protect renters, stop illegal evictions, and double social assistance so more people can afford to stay in their homes.

That’s who he has always been.

As we already know, Peterborough-Nogojiwanong is a very engaged community. Here is some data from the #PTBO Bluesky feed that demonstrates how engaged we are.

However, it saddens me to see that outrage at the actions of our city council is what causes this chart to spike.

The council meeting last night broke me.

Until about halfway through the night, while things often happened around the horseshow I didn't like, I was able to keep some hope that council was 11 people trying their best and worth engaging with in good faith.

I was wrong. #ptbo

It’s official: Doug Ford quit on Ontario today. So I’m here to apply for his job.

In the next few weeks, we can turn the page on seven long years of failure, corruption, and bad deals.

You deserve a better government. With your support, I’ll be a Premier that’s on your side.
