I kinda get that, usually when some media resonates strong enough with me I don't really find any interest in r34 of that media for months. I think what happens is the fictional world imprints itself vividly enough that nsfw is just non-canon and doesn't fit. And yeah, Nine Sols was goty material.

Yes, matrix is the infrastructure, but it's open infrastructure. Anyone can create a client for it, and there's several that have been around for several years now. They're just not very popular because of network effects. In other words, everyone wants to be where everyone already is.

Matrix is the protocol which runs underneath several different clients like element (this would be the discord equivalent). This is similar to how the AT protocol enables bsky. They also have bridges which let you communicate with proprietary networks like discord.

I wouldn't call it really bad, but I saw it after bad guys 2 and I can see what you mean. The worldbuilding and visuals are still nice though.

You probably still wouldn't like it. The little details that make a picture hit just right (regardless if it's a sketch or a full render) are far beyond the scope of a small prompt. Besides that, models currently on offer fail repeatedly if you want to do anything somewhat complicated.
