As a kid, I usually hung out with an older crowd. Played sports and partied with them, and it was always the alphas who kept an eye on me, made sure I was safe. They stood up for me. Defended me from bullies. They were never mean to me because they didn't have anything to prove.

Leadership can't be faked, and hoping to do well does not work when managing an important institution, or an unimportant one for that matter. Institutions made up of professionals, especially one with an essential or important mission, will always reveal a poorly qualified leader.

Poor Pete Hegseth. It looks like he gave up drinking for nothing.

In the 1950s and 60s, the laws governing institutions were few and not well enforced. Money talked louder then because fewer people had it. Institutions often bought their way around rules and regulations, so I developed a firm dislike for institutional abuse. There are greater issues in play here.

Harvard graduates an average of 9,600 annually. That's 96,000 per decade and 240,000 since the start of the new Millenium. Yet trump thinks it's a good idea to go to war politically with this and other institutions of "Higher Learning." Not smart!

I've noticed that more and more Republicans, instead of outright denial, have started quietly rationalizing their increasing unpopularity, trying to explain it using primarily unsubstantiated claims. I also predict as 2026 unfolds, we will start to see more panic with more desperation and lies.

In sports, they say "The book is out," referring to having enough film on a team to plan a proper defense.
Well, the book is out on trump.
Prognosis: Call his bluff. He'll fold every time.

Art of the deal:
trump threatens China with tariffs.
China places tariffs on American goods.
trump threatens higher tariffs on China.
China ups the tariffs on America.
trump begs China to negotiate.
China doesn't take his call.
trump reverses tariffs on China.

History will judge trump as the worst president to ever hold office, but since he thinks the world began when he was born and will end when he is gone, he couldn't care less.

I'm from a time when workers often suffered from dangerous working conditions. Chemical exposure, inadequate injury safeguards, extreme working hours... Unions fight institutional abuse. Does anyone believe there is no institutional abuse left in the country? Anyone?
