this comic though is meant to be as in doom lore and aesthetic as possible so didn’t know how odd it would be to do that for a non gag comic

You could say each Rougarou form is personalized. Depending on the state of one's soul and its condition, it leads to the form the user takes.
Makes you wonder what caused the one named Lebel to form like that...

The Rougarou used to curse our boy Ruger, and a newer creation called Cauchemar made to hunt him down

A being made of muck and malice, Madame Delphine is a witch born of the swamp and mud of Louisiana manifested out of pure agony and torment.
She tried to make Ruger into one of her monsters to command.
