Apologies. There was an error in the South African shooting stats we posted last night. So here is the correct version...
#AUSvRSA
π Dominant Diamonds! Australia had a 67β40 win over the South African Proteas in Wollongong, to seal the series victory with one game to spare. This was South Africa's lowest score vs Australia since 2018.

Full time: AUS 67-40
A comprehensive win for Australia on a night when just nothing went right for South Africa. For the Diamonds, Jo Weston was POTM with 4 gains and 4 pickups, while Georgie Horjus impressed in the second half. Horjus and Garbin shot 35/35!
#AUSvRSA
3/4 time: AUS 50-30
Garbin 13/13 (100%)
Horjus 5/5 (100%)
Streutker 7/8 (88%)
Ngubane 1/1 (100%)
Several changes made at 1/2 time. The combination of Georgie Horjus and Sophie Garbin provided a spark for Australia as they dominated the quarter. SA with 28 turnovers!
#AUSvRSA
1/2 time: AUS 32-22
A bit of a frustrating game to watch. There's no flow as both sides continue to make errors. The Diamonds won the second quarter 14-11 to extend their lead, but they still probably wouldn't be overly pleased with their performance.
#AUSvRSA
1/4 time: AUS 18-11
Koenen 9/12 (75%)
Austin 9/12 (75%)
van der Berg 10/11 (91%)
Breedt 1/3 (33%)
Diamonds on top after a rather frantic opening quarter with lots of errors. Shooting accuracy a problem for Australia, while South Africa has given up 10 turnovers!

Stats from tonight's first test in Bendigo which saw the Diamonds take a 1-0 lead in the series. The first, third, and fourth quarters were all very competitive, but the damage was done in a 20-12 second quarter.

The Australian Diamonds come away with an 11-goal win over a gallant South African Proteas in the first test in Bendigo.

Full time: AUS 64-53
Australia comes away with an comfortable 11-goal win, with POTM Courtney Bruce having 8 gains. But there was plenty to like about South Africa's performance. This was the closest margin between the two teams since the 2019 World Cup semi final.
#AUSvRSA
Courtney Bruce has starred in defence for Australia with 7 gains already. The biggest roar was reserved for Alice Teague-Neeld who came on late in the 2nd quarter to make her international debut. A few too many errors creeping into SA's game in that 2nd Q.
#AUSvRSA
1/2 time: AUS 34-26
Garbin 22/26 (85%)
Austin 12/14 (86%)
van der Berg 16/19 (84%)
Maseko 10/14 (71%)
A great first quarter (14-14) for South Africa as they took it right up to Australia. But the Diamonds started to assert some authority in the second quarter (20-12)
#AUSvRSA
Teams are in for the first test of the series in Bendigo. It's 11 months since the Diamonds last played a test, but it's just 6 days since the Proteas went down to New Zealand by just one goal in a thriller.

Congrats to Proteas captain Khanyisa Chawane, who played her 100th test last Sunday. Chawane, Shadine van der Merwe (73), and Elmere van der Berg (46) make up exactly half of the squad's total of 438 caps.

Final: Full time: AUS 63-48
Australia wins their fifth Netball World Youth Cup, thanks largely to a dominant third quarter where they took control. It was a great all round performance, but Lily Graham was outstanding, as she has been all tournament.

It's Gold for Australia. After a very even first half, Australia got on top in the second half. The introduction of a moving circle with Lily and Kayla Graham proved a winning move. A gallant effort from New Zealand who take home the Silver.
