Ah, a name I recognise from several jobs ago.

I'd like to ask "how do we ensure that using robots in the sea does not harm wildlife or inadvertently alter their natural behaviour? Especially for electrical signals and sonar, etc."

Mel Stride repeats inaccurate claim about youth unemployment – Full Fact Full Fact is the UK’s independent fact checking charity

Conservative shadow chancellor Sir Mel Stride claimed the UK’s youth unemployment is β€œthe highest in Europe”.

This isn’t correct. The UK’s youth unemployment rate is higher than the EU average, but some European countries have higher rates. #SpringStatement

It’s clear to me that the argument is actually about what you think the point of doing research is. If it’s papers, AI will be faster. But I don’t think it’s papers I think it’s the process and I want to do that process

do students really want spend between tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars in tuition just to be taught by professors who have outsourced their work to AI?

If you are part of a university or UK facing research organisation, publisher, funder, learned society and they are still posting on X - they're in a rather uncomfortable minority now. Perhaps point them to the eXit.

Brent Spiner as Data in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

All I'm saying is, if Data spoke in a weird smug approximation of Internet slang, couldn't spell strawberry and kept telling the crew of the Enterprise to kill themselves, people wouldn't have liked him as much.

Theft is bad, folks - unless a multibillion-dollar corporation does it, in which case it's good. This is definitely a morally and economically sustainable operating model for society.

🚨 It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.

This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.

Please spread the word.

Can't stop laughing at a story my friend told me yesterday about going to meet a work contact at the gates of Trinity. He went up to another waiting man and said "Are you Michael?" "Yes" "Will we go for a coffee?" "Sure." Over a coffee he realises it's not the Michael he's meant to be meeting.

In utterly DELIGHTFUL news, Adwait Paliwal, the desi techbro behind the cheatbot Einstein AI which claimed it could log into Canvas and do/turn in your assignments for you has been forced to take down his website.
He'll likely be back, and there are others like him in abundance, sadly.
