Congrats to David and Patrick. Very well earned. Giants in the field whose work sets the tone for others to follow.

The molecular basis of force selectivity by PIEZO2 Nature - PIEZO2 is intrinsically more rigid than PIEZO1, and disparate mechanical stimuli paradoxically evoke opposite conformational and gating responses in each channel.

New paper from the lab led by @ericmulhall.bsky.social addresses how PIEZO1 and PIEZO2 are tuned to different types mechanical forces. From nanometer-scale super-resolution microscopy to in vivo experiments, links single-molecule observations to physiological function.

Wow recruiting up to 16 people! Take a look if you're on the job market. I was here last fall and was really impressed by the people and environment, and all the new buildings.

idk that seems to be the understatement of the week. this is actually happening, postdocs and RAs are being let go, and projects falter. 'could face funding gaps'? this is actually happening at a large scale. 'Worry' doesnt reflect the existential crisis that many of my colleagues are in.

Awesome my friend! I also grew my early love for biology watching nature documentaries. I still watch them. Looking forward to seeing yours!

Very important article for all of us in neuroscience. Thanks @suthanalab.bsky.social. It takes people like yourself who are comfortable breaking down these cross-species barriers to make real progress. I hope people follow you. You have improved my thinking.

Great point @tedpricethepainguy.bsky.social! So many classic papers I teach my undergrads in neuroscience before the 1970s and 1980s have no p-values or stats, and yet those findings have stood the test of time.

I enjoyed reading these 20 reviews in this special edition on interoception. This exciting field of brain-body signaling has many open questions – indicated by most articles written by PIs of labs opened within the past few years. Nice job authors and editors.
