That banner is up simply because of the NIDDK domain. Do not be alarmed (for now!).

and public health. I β€œdo” home dialysis, first and foremost, and at this point, I am 100% certain that DaVita is where I ought to be, whether the world loves it or not. There are parts of industry that can be grating, but there are other parts that are wonderful. I wish all the best!!

I happened to notice your update on LinkedIn a week ago or so. I will tell you this, in the hope that it provides you some comfort: I have wrestled with a lot of feelings as I’ve wandered among academia, device, and dialysis provider(s). The only that matters is using your talent to help science…

One line is not like the others, right? That line summarizes counties in which none of DaVita, Fresenius, US Renal, American Renal, or DCI operate, yet you find a freestanding dialysis unit not owned by a hospital. What might you hypothesize about the cost of living in such places?

Meine Großeltern left Γ–sterreich (Apetlon, southeast of Neusiedler See) in the late 1940s. The stories of their youth are part of my life, which makes all of what occurred easier for an American child to understand.

In patients with myocardial infarction and anemia, a liberal red blood cell transfusion strategy showed no significant difference in quality of life outcomes compared to a restrictive strategy 30 days post-randomization.

Fascinating story. Aside from environmental exposures, high temperature and dehydration are posited as a potential culprit.

Idiotic public policy. That’s how I really feel. We somehow conflated decriminalization (of possession/use) with safety of use.

If we set aside editorials and perspective articles...

It would be interesting to see what % of RCTs in NEJM and JAMA are industry-sponsored vs NIH-sponsored. I suspect that in those two journals, the former is dominant.

JAMA specialty journals are a different topic, for sure.

🌍 History made! For the first time, kidney care is on the global health agenda. #WHA78 adopted a landmark resolution recognizing kidney health in the fight against #NCDs.

πŸ‘ Thanks to Guatemala and the global kidney community for making this possible!

It is still a relatively slow-paced and inactive platform. I don’t feel overwhelmed by political takes (largely one-sided though they are), but engagement is not broad-based.

We need Rep. Gwen Moore's leadership on this life-saving kidney legislation | Opinion As a kidney donor, I'm asking Rep. Gwen Moore to lend her voice and advocate for End Kidney Deaths Act that could save thousands of lives.

As independent editorials go, this one is nicely constructed and somewhat persuasive.

I use FedEx Office more than any other outfit. I just pick up the poster at the store, so I need not worry about the hotel misplacing it. The price is fine, and more often than not, the location is in the convention center hotel or within a few blocks.
