My wife and I are both very excited about this journey for our family. God/the Universe has worked in mysterious ways, and many things have been falling very nicely into place for our move to Claremore, OK.

I have accepted a position as an Assistant Professor of Psychology & Sociology at Rogers State University beginning this Fall.

My name is Kyle Callen, and I am a disabled sociologist. My research seeks to know more about men with disabilities, impairments, and/or chronic illnesses and their understandings of and experiences with masculinity throughout their lives. I invite anyone with a disability, impairment, or chronic illness who identifies as male to participate in an interview with me (either in person, via Zoom, or by phone). You will be asked to talk about the relationships between disability, impairment, chronic illness, and masculinity across different stages of your life. Privacy and anonymity will be ensured through the use of pseudonyms. You can stop the interview, refuse to answer any questions you aren’t comfortable answering, and ask to be removed from the study at any time. Interviews will be audio recorded, transcribed for analyses, and will last anywhere from an hour to 90 minutes. If you're interested in participating, my email is Kyle.L.Callen-1@ou.edu. A few years ago, while teaching at a small country school, I was listening to a podcast during my plan and came across this motto. It knocked me off my feet. I was teaching students who didn’t believe that college was a path. “Don’t take choices away from future you.”

We can’t afford to be pessimists, at least not for too long, because we have a long fight ahead of us.

Folks, we can grieve, we can be tired, we can be lost, but we CAN’T stop fighting for the survival of those most marginalized in our society (women, those in the LGBTQ+ communities, people of color, immigrants, those in poverty, disabled people, and those who exist at the intersections).

I know many of us, including myself, are shocked, saddened, angered, and worried about the direction of our country. But, James Baldwin’s wisdom is something I’ve come to cling to when I feel like nothing I do matters.

Well….

Like most heavyweight fights, Paul/Tyson was an overhyped snooze fest. Best fight of the night hands down was Barrios/Ramos, who both fought with a lot of heart and respect for the craft. Also thought Taylor/Serrano was a good fight though many found the decision controversial.

I study Indigeniety and its connections to differences between power and privilege between Native American tribes. Excited to find this group!
