Beans the whippet is 6 today & Loki is 13.

My whippet, Beans is pretending to be asleep so he doesn’t get turfed into his perfectly comfy cave bed.

Beans has had 3 weeks of his pack being on holiday.
All back home now & he’s happy!

After a fantastic two weeks inter-railing around NorthernSpain, I’m now on the Eurostar back to the land of the rising gammon.

Well, I was as ready to be raptured as I would ever have been but I felt nowt & it’s past the deadline here in Bilbao so I now declare Jesus & God are fakes & phoneys.
Fuck ‘em.

Smashing couple of days in Oldstead, foraging, learning preserving methods and eating incredible food in a beautiful but not that well known part of Yorkshire.

When so much bad stuff is happening in this world, just having a pint with yer #whippet is sometimes yer best option.

Unfortunately osteoarthrosis has called time on my hockey umpiring career. I was never particularly good at it, I did it as I figured someone had to & if no one else did, my kids wouldn’t have been able to play hockey & they loved the sport, as do I.
I will miss umpiring hockey matches.

My daughter Tilda & me ran the Oxenhope Straw Race together today in fancy dress, in aid of the local Sue Ryder Manorlands cancer hospice.
We dressed as Dumbledore & Bellatrix from Harry Potter, with our whippet Beans dressed as Dobby!

When our friend Jackie was trying to get a photo of us with our whippet Beans paying attention, she held a dog treat above her phone & said “look at the treat”…

Tilda, Beans the whippet & me are running the Oxenhope Straw Race again this year In memory of my dad. 3 miles in fancy dress carrying a 20kg bale of straw uphill, sinking 5 pints of ale along the way.

Yay.

9 miles with Beans my whippet. He loved it & nearly caught a rabbit.
But 23°C in April at 450m altitude isn’t normal in Northern England in April.
Beans is tuckered out.
