I admit that the proposal is surprising in a country historically averse to any form of state interventionism, but I think Khosla is asking the right question: how can wealth be redistributed in a world where value is produced by machines?

But in the short term, I don't believe there will be an explosion in energy demand. Will the doomsayers suffer? Probably not, our memory is too short. Who remembers the predictions for 5G?

I imagine they will have found another battle, once again predicting a disaster scenario.

There will be a rebound effect, and that's a great thing.

The price of things will go down. Many people around the world will have access to them. We will—once again—spread prosperity a little more throughout the world.

The more I learn, the more I believe that all the doomsday predictions about AI energy consumption are completely wrong.

Completely wrong.

I think that system optimizations will largely compensate for this.
We will need energy, but not for AI: for the explosion in production that it will enable.
