As a reminder, Trump brought the state into Intel's capital to the tune of 10% this summer. It should also be noted that this could not be done anywhere other than the United States, as European companies are not sufficiently capitalized to provide a sufficiently high return to citizens.

I admit that the proposal is surprising in a country historically averse to any form of state interventionism, but I think Khosla is asking the right question: how can wealth be redistributed in a world where value is produced by machines?

To avoid social division and a potential revolution, a small portion of this capital would need to be โsocialized,โ without nationalizing companies.

His reasoning is based on the principle that if AI makes the economy massively productive but eliminates a large number of jobs, then capital will become the main source of income at the expense of labor (which is already starting to happen...).

He suggests that the US government take a 10% stake in all publicly traded companies to redistribute the wealth generated by AI via dividends.

I completely missed that!
I haven't seen such an interesting idea since a while: venture capitalist Vinod Khosla (known for co-founding Sun Microsystems and then becoming one of Silicon Valley's first major VCs) recently proposed a rather provocative but interesting idea

13.11.2025 12:00 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0But in the short term, I don't believe there will be an explosion in energy demand. Will the doomsayers suffer? Probably not, our memory is too short. Who remembers the predictions for 5G?
I imagine they will have found another battle, once again predicting a disaster scenario.
There will be a rebound effect, and that's a great thing.
The price of things will go down. Many people around the world will have access to them. We willโonce againโspread prosperity a little more throughout the world.
The more I learn, the more I believe that all the doomsday predictions about AI energy consumption are completely wrong.
Completely wrong.
I think that system optimizations will largely compensate for this.
We will need energy, but not for AI: for the explosion in production that it will enable.

While China, US and Russia are pushing hard to flood the world with robots and AI, which will make paid work scarcer as productivity skyrockets, in France, they're debating whether to delay retirement by a quarter of a year or so.
