a big part of being a horror movie freak is just knowing what movies to recommend to more general horror movie watchers and what movies to recommend to other film sickos who can endure rocky pacing or production value to hyperfixate on the cool or interesting parts

its frustrating when you play an indie horror game that has good visuals and mechanics with potential but its all supposed to drive a story and the story is a nothingburger that doesn't have any interesting story threads and those threads end up going nowhere anyway and none of it matters

I'm watching this old Japanese straight-to-video anthology from 1991. It doesn't have subtitles so I can't understand any of the dialogue, but funnily enough it does have a spooky narrator speaking in english between stories.

coke is so proud of their shitty ai filtered santa pictures on their bottles even though it makes him look like a weird crackhead. his eyes are so cold and dead...

(some obvious stuff i missed like Castlevania Bloodlines but only because i checked the other comments partway through writing and it looks like they got it covered)

found this toy gun for really cheap that uses the exact same mold as the Famicom Hypershot, so i bought it so that i can digitize it into a Doom weapon spriteset without having to pay 200$+

what is it with cats hogging the exact spot you need to be in at any given time

they also lost spots that they've held in Georgia for the first time since 2000 - the level of cope on display is crazy

i found this listing for known bad movie 'The Chooper' and I cannot see this skull as anything other than surprised and furiously blushing no matter what way I look at it

you can just use dsda doom in the meantime if you want, its a more oldschool port but its an oldschool map

genuinely surprised how warm the reception was for my Halloween Doom map - I made it for the love of the game/season and thought it'd pass pretty quietly, so I'm glad to see there are people enjoying it

it's really funny to me that big movie director/writer person Taylor Sheridan was an FMV actor in Crusader: No Remorse and a couple other games in the 90s (under a pseudonym, but a really really obvious one)

nevermind i figured it out, i just had to remake the texture and pnames files by having it import the base doom 2 ones first rather than having slade make brand new ones

how do I get a map i'm making with custom textures to run in DSDA Doom without it mixing up the textures

it feels like a lot of what i'm hearing about it is 'nowhere near as bad as feared, but not nearly as good as VTMB1'

i'm trying to merge my fondness for specific 'mid-90's user maps with custom textures' like DOOMCITY and MALL.wad (i use some of their resources among various others + a few of my own) and love of classic Halloween night trick or treat kitsch for a small and quick level

if i had the time i'd add more potholes for biblical accuracy

I'm not sure yet if it'll be finished before Halloween since I have drawing stuff to do as well, but I'm working on a small 90's inspired Doom map with whatever resources i could scrounge up + a few of my own (and also my own Halloween weapon sprites).

I feel like there was 5 times that I meant to watch that movie and decided on something else instead and i'm not sure why
