Yeah β€” paragraph 2 was a joke, and paragraph 3 was her saying "but seriously, I really meant what I said in paragraph 2".

There's absolutely no factual basis for his claims that the Guard is being sent to the places most beset by crime, nor is there any factual basis for his assertions that the Guard is fighting crime once it's there. The media should treat these as transparent lies, not as questionable claims.

Excellent. I wish the media would treat this the same way as the judge. The main story is not "Trump sends National Guard to City X"; it's "Trump uses false pretenses to send National Guard to City X". It's not a judgement call, it's simple fact.

Trump is simply murdering people and sharing the videos. Six Supreme Court justices say it's okay, because he's the president.

But more hysterically and less smiley. His default demeanor is panic freakout.

Firing this prosecutor would be yet another obviously impeachable offense. But alas, all the Republicans in Congress are shameless corrupt lickspittles.

It's a perverse form of honesty. "I'm lying to you, you know I'm lying to you, and I don't care. Go pound sand."

The "look right into the camera" bit is the most revealing. It demonstrates that he's lying intentionally, aggressively, and without shame (as opposed to the performative sidestepping, waffling, and obfuscation that politicians traditionally employed to avoid being caught in flagrant lies).

For n=50, it looks like "much less threat" is 2 people. Maybe they thought Trump would immediately dissolve Congress and have all the Democrats imprisoned at Guantanamo?

The only condition is that he has to say "I'm doing it for the good of the country".

That decision essentially rendered the entire Constitution null and void. Congress has the power to pass laws, and the judiciary renders judgement on the laws, but the president can ignore them as he pleases, and even have them murdered if he so desires. So says the Court, anyway.

It's totally incoherent. I used to assume that Supreme Court justices had at least some kind of complicated legal rationale for the destructive things they did, but at this point they're clearly just faking it. "The president is allowed to commit all the crimes he wants" was the breaking point.

John Roberts’ Constitution: The federal government protecting people’s right to vote or giving them health care violates the sacred principle of state sovereignty but if the deranged POTUS and his bloodthirsty advisers want to use the military to invade other states for being too liberal that’s fine

Olympics in Los Angeles are in 2028, nearly three years away. Get started now on moving them. How can you hold the Olympics in a country that's aggressively boasting about kidnapping foreign visitors, and deploying its own military against peaceful residents of the host city (Los Angeles)?

I think it helps Democrats when Trump depicts himself and his cronies as creepy killers stalking ordinary American workers at their workplaces, but ONLY if Democrats use it as an opportunity to mock him. Don't call it "frightening". He wants to be feared, he fears being mocked.

The GOP budget bill will triple the cost of health care for millions of people! Trump has killed energy projects that would have lowered energy bills for HUNDREDS of millions of people! He's killed infrastructure projects that were supporting workers and businesses in every state! Etc...

He's halfway there, but instead of saying Trump has done "nothing" about the high cost of living, I hope he also went on a tirade about all the ways Trump has been breaking laws left and right to INCREASE the cost of living. Tariffs are a tax on every American!

Paleontologists don't teach Creationism. Oceanographers monitor how seawater is acidified by carbon dioxide from fossil fuels. Geochemists study how mine tailings degrade the environment. Geomorphologists measure coastal subsidence caused by diversion of sediment by dams and levees. Etc....

In the sciences it would devastate all teaching and research on topics that have been politicized by the GOP. In Earth Sciences, this would obviously include climate and energy, but it would also reach into all sorts of non-obvious things.

Absolutely. My daily observation: Republicans in Congress could stop this nightmare today simply by impeaching him for any of a hundred flagrant crimes against the law and the Constitution. But they don't.

They pretend not to see it. They change the subject when they are confronted with it.

And that's why they are responsible for the fact that we have a deeply mentally ill president, surrounded by other deeply unwell people.

He knows it. They know it. They've always known it. Amongst themselves, they joke about it. They tell stories about it. They swap advice on how to deal with it.

But most importantly, to everyone else, they lie about it.
