Jess has had a variety of roles in the scholarly publishing industry for the last few decades. Currently she is Director, Publishing Sales at Optica and previously was a Regional Sales Manager at IOP Publishing.
Before embarking on the sales side of publishing, she was the Publications Portfolio Manager at IEEE Photonics Society and spent ten years commissioning books at IOP Publishing and World Scientific Publishing. Jess also worked at Springer Nature in various editorial roles. She enjoys spending time outside with her dog and son, Jack

Rachel has a particular specialism in the life sciences and publishing sectors. She has over 18 yearsβ experience, and has spent time working in-house, as corporate counsel for a global pharmaceutical company (AstraZeneca).
Rachel advises on a broad range of non-contentious IP matters and works closely with a number of publishing organisations. Her publishing clients range from small society publishers and magazine publishers, to charities and academic institutions. Nancy has worked in publishing for over 25 years in a variety of production and operations roles, including running global operations for the Academic business at Cambridge University Press. She is now a consultant and COO at Maverick Publishing Consultants, providing specialist consultancy to scholarly publishers, societies and associations, and also works freelance as a trainer. She has a PhD in Postcolonial Feminist Literary Theory and Executive MBA from Cranfield University.
