my only problem with this kind of ambient occlusion is that it's a little muddy and doesn't work as well in more cartoony styles, this game is going for a stylized realism so I feel like it'll look great in the environment and shadows but not sure if it'll look as good on the pokemon themselves

I'm glad I wasn't the only one that noticed they're using SSAO in this new engine for pokemon wiwa, it's very subtle and it's a little noisy up close, but it definitely helps to make things look a bit more like they belong in the environment
