8 Members- representing 7 political parties and one independent- will be affected by the requirement to join a larger grouping under the new constitution. Notably this includes the only survivor of the National united Party who were (briefly) the largest in the country in 2004. 2/3

As promised, here's the results from January's election in #Vanuatu. The election saw distinct gains by opposition parties the Iauko Group and Leaders Party, as well as consolidation away from some of the smaller parties. 1/3

Been deferred due to a major earthquake striking the capital Port Vila in December, and will be the first operating under new constitutional amendments designed to strengthen political parties and force single-member parties to unite into larger entities. 3/4

Like the most recent election, this was also called to avoid a no-confidence vote in the incumbent Prime Minister - Vanua'aku Party's Bob Loughman- and saw his deputy take power in a new coalition. We shall see if history repeats itself in an election that has... 2/4
