You know what would have been really useful? If Labour hadn't fed into the "sectarianism" narrative themselves and constructed a rod for their own back.

Does that make Labour unpopulists with no answers, Darren?

Why can’t care workers stay, Paul? β€œBecause they are contributing to Labour’s cache-misΓ¨re’

Whatever else this is from Paul Ovenden, demanding Labour MPs back Mahmood’s immigration crackdown, it is the most over-written, pretentious thing I’ve seen for some time.

Green surge was inevitable now the β€œwasted vote” argument no longer holds.

Labour will need to offer positive reasons to think again rather than simply saying Greens couldn’t win an election.

RIP β€œI feel liberated. We can say β€˜retard’ and β€˜pussy’ without the fear of getting cancelled . . . it’s a new dawn.” - you had a great run as the best quote in the FT from people who really would benefit from reading the FT, there's a new sheriff in town.

Here I'll help, look at Wes Streeting as another example. Both reactionary, self-serving opportunists. Both mid-40s. Both got into student politics at uni. Why would they both align with Labour when they are ideologically close to tories? Anything about that period of time?

Well, no, they’re not just as wrong. The bigger error is not seeing that β€œtrying to win over voters from a party on the opposite end of the spectrum, whose values your core voters oppose” is not same as β€œchasing voters from party on same side ideologically whose values your core voters like.”

For sure. It’s also a lament over what’s effective against what you’re up against, I get it.

I had a great run at that time for big shouts like that. A fair few whoppers too, of course! Simply don’t watch enough football to do that now. Or the time to watch that much football!!

Arsenal are the most complete team in the league on paper. You’ve got every dimension going. Just wish it coalesced into something more enjoyable for the neutral and it wasn’t so effective for you to prosper with the attritional stuff.
