If they go into the season with Morel and Palacios in LF, and donโ€™t look to improve the bats at SS and C, they will be a .500 team again.
You canโ€™t continue to have a black hole in the bottom third of your lineup and still be contenders, especially considering the injury history of the other six.

As much as I would like to see them move on from Walls, they need to see whatโ€™s available in the offseason before they do. The smarter move is to exercise the option and go into spring training.
Itโ€™s not too costly, considering Williams just doesnโ€™t seem ready.
.172 BA w/ a 45% K rate wonโ€™t make it.

If (and thatโ€™s a really big if) they spend money in free agency, Iโ€™d rather see them address their shortcomings in the OF, C or SS. Kyle Tucker, JT Realmuto or Bo Bichette fill more pressing needs.
Signing Alonso would mean moving Aranda out of position and moving on from Yandy and B-Lowe now.

All of those position players are expendable and donโ€™t have much in the way of trade value, but some of those pitchers have value to other teams as well as the Rays. Given that some of the players on the 60 day IL wonโ€™t be ready by spring, itโ€™s going be interesting to see how they manage the staff.

Durham averaged 1500 more fans per game than the Jumbo Shrimp, who by the way were the AAA champions this season, while Durham didnโ€™t make the playoffs.
If youโ€™ve been to both stadiums, you know that Durham has the superior fan experience and facilitiesโ€ฆwith things to do within walking distance.

Considering Rays attendance was down 40% from LY (expected, playing in a MiLB park), but TV viewership was also down 28%. TV numbers were always a strength for them. Rebuilding interest in the team will be critical to them securing a stadium deal. They couldnโ€™t even average a sellout in GMS all yr.

They have work to do right out of the gate. By 5 days after the World Series they have to get the 40 man roster down from the 48 they have now.
Team options on B. Lowe, Yandy and Fairbanks have to be decidedโ€ฆand of course the future of where home field will be for upcoming season and beyond.

If they play these last two games with the roof open, heโ€™s got a chance. But he gets a hard throwing right hander today and a TBD pitcher tomorrowโ€ฆ.so itโ€™s anyoneโ€™s guess.

Might be a while before we see them in that order again.

Iโ€™m not sure I see how this would make the major league team betterโ€ฆ. I guess they could drive from Jacksonville to Tampa for the AAA shuttle instead of flying commercial, but that stadium doesnโ€™t compare to Durham.
Iโ€™m not even sure if that stadium in Jax survives the expansion of Jags complex.

I believe the game was suspended in the 5th for weather and it will resume today. They are down 5-1, but stranger things have happened.
Their two best starters were ineffective in games 2 and 3, but they have had really good seasons.
Rays always seem to have pitching depth. They need hitters!!

And because annual cash flow sucked, heโ€™s been able to cry poor when it relates to stadium reinvestment and free agent spending.
At the same time the league supplemented their payroll by taxing teams that spent in free agency as a reward for not reinvesting โ€ฆ.thats some system.

Good points about J-Lowe, his performance has always been dependent upon his health. Iโ€™m not sure if itโ€™s just the type of injuries heโ€™s had or that he doesnโ€™t give them enough time to recover completely.
What do you see them doing in the next month or so to manage the 40 man roster?

Goodbye and good riddanceโ€ฆ.seems fitting that the last game will be a fan experience nightmare
With Bucs fans still trying to get out, Rays fans have to park well off site and bus over, uber or walk. Getting back to the car will be awful. Limited buses and backed up uber pickup.
Piss poor planning.

A good percentage of this years Biscuits roster was on the championship winning Hot Rods roster from last season. Learning how to win is a key developmental skill set.

With the departure of Silverman and Auld, I fully expect a complete rebuild of the Rays. Anything we thought we knew about how they operate is over. No one will be safe.
Without an impressive spring, Williams is back in AAA working on his K rate. No everyday SS can hit under .200 with a 40% K rate.

They donโ€™t typically draft very high, so the elite prospects arenโ€™t there to pick, and signabilty weighs heavily in their pick decisions
Their international philosophy is quantity over quality, so even though they have lots of pool money, they just donโ€™t push all their chips to the middle on anyone.

18.09.2025 14:32 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

They draft the same type of player every year. Typically H.S. age shortstops who are athletic enough to move to other positions if they can hit. Later rounds, they take college pitchers who throw hard and have a decent off speed.
Where they come up short is they sign the same types internationally.

His last 88 ABs with Durham have been impressive, but heโ€™s 30 years old, was drafted in 2016 and been with 6 organizations, 4 this year aloneโ€ฆ.I get that youโ€™re sick of Lowe and all, but you gotta aim higher than a position-less journeyman.
I bet Pitt will dump B. Reynolds this offseason. Good fit?

Unless heโ€™s willing to sign another minor league contract with an invite to spring training with the Rays, heโ€™ll probably sign elsewhere. Heโ€™s with the Bulls because he refused the assignment with Houston.
Heโ€™s played well enough to get a look by someone with a clearer 40 man roster path than Rays.

18.09.2025 11:39 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Heโ€™s 1 of 48 players that Rays have on their 40 man.
Theyโ€™ll have from the end of the regular season to 5 days after the World Series to trade or release 8 players.
They can always re-sign a released player to a minor league contract, but they likely will trade as many as they can for prospects.

Thatโ€™s a lot of rookiesโ€ฆmaybe they should send them out for something more significant.
Even at todayโ€™s inflated coffee prices, with that many of them, it wonโ€™t cost them much more than $10 bucks each.

Brody Hopkins (Sea deal) and Ty Johnson (Cubs deal) have dominated in Montgomery, while TJ Nichols led Bowling Green to the first half playoff spot. They have a couple others that are trying to control their crazy good stuff in Boyle and Curet.
Teams pay big for arms.
I agree with you on the hitters

If they would only draft some of the type hitters they covet in tradesโ€ฆ.hard contact that can barrel up a pitch.
lolโ€ฆas Iโ€™m typing this, Kyle Manzardo just blasted a no doubter HR.
Anyway, whatever Milwaukee is doing, the Rays need to try. They seem to be able to make all their hitters better.
