👋 @ddotdc.bsky.social Please consider backing up the line where southbound cars on 4th St SW at Independence Ave are supposed to stop when the light is red. Currently the line makes it difficult for eastbound D10 buses to make the right turn on to 4th. I submitted a TSI (26-00138662) for tracking.

Is there recent data on the @ddotdc.bsky.social / @wmata.com joint Clear Lanes initiative? The bus lane on Penn Ave SE is literally never cleared of cars, so much so that bus drivers often don’t even bother getting into the lane, which likely means their cameras aren’t issuing tickets to parked cars

Hey @bikeshare.bsky.social - Will there be bike valet tomorrow for people participating in the #FitDC Fresh Start 5K? Thanks!

As part of this, could drivers also announce when a hold is happening & how long it’s expected to last? Holds are sometimes necessary but it’s frustrating when the bus isn’t moving w/no info. Knowing the length helps riders decide if they want to wait it out, or find an alternative (walk, bikeshare)

The @bikeshare.bsky.social station at 25th & S Streets SE recently went out of service without notice. Would it be possible to get an update on when riders can expect it to be back online? Thanks!

I’ve noticed on my morning commute that at the 13th & G Streets NW stop, the @wmata.com D10 bus doesn’t announce the rail transfer to 🔴🟠🔵⚪️ lines — even though it stops literally at the entrance to Metro Center. Is this an oversight or intentional?

There are EIGHT (!!!) e-bikes in the @bikeshare.bsky.social dock outside of the Eastern Market metro that all says not available. Are these bikes charging or are they not functional? If they’re not functional you should really remove them to free up the dock space for riders to use.

Curious why @wmata.com has Rte C37 serve both of these stops located less than 0.5 block apart? If the bus is waiting at a red light it of course makes sense to open the door & let people out. But this morning, two C37’s were offloading at PA/Potomac making it difficult for the D10 to serve the stop

Today, @ktravisballie.bsky.social and I learned that our 🥵 air conditioner just didn’t have what it takes to thrive in this fast-paced environment. So here we are, lounging in an 81° house 😅—grateful it’s only 87° outside 🙃 which, for July in D.C., is basically a cold front 🧊

Does @wmata.com have data on whether adding “Fare Required” to bus displays has changed rider behavior? At 1st I didn’t mind it, but I’ve come to dislike that it hides the route number. If this change stays, could it alternate with the destination—like “C11 National Harbor” and “C11 Fare Required”?

Bikeshare price increases releases 7/1/25

I get that rising operational costs mean higher prices, but these @bikeshare.bsky.social hikes are wild:

🚲 Membership fee: ⬆️ 26%
⚡ Member e-bike: ⬆️ 50%
🚲 Nonmember classic: ⬆️ 200%
⚡ Nonmember e-bike: ⬆️ 133%

That’s not inflation—it’s a wallop that will likely lead to a decrease in usage.

The data backs it up. This June 2024 op-ed by @santi4dc.bsky.social in @ggwash.org shows how bus shelters are concentrated in wealthier, whiter parts of DC—and why that needs to change. Everyone across the District deserves dignified, weather-protected access to transit.

This morning, I sent an email to @ddotdc.bsky.social’s transit planning team urging them to relocate the bus shelter from the discontinued stop at Naylor Rd & S St SE to the new stop on 27th & R. Our community deserves the same access to weather-protected transit as wealthier parts of DC.

Today’s the day @wmata.com’s BetterBus routes officially rolled out! Just before 1 AM, I rode the inaugural westbound D10 from Randle Highlands to Eastern Market. By pure chance, on my way back I caught the final eastbound 32. A fitting farewell and fresh start all in one ride!

The W/B 32 stop at Naylor Rd & S St SE—one of the few serving 7B03 with a shelter—is being cut under @wmata.com BetterBus. We’re asking @ddotdc.bsky.social to ensure a shelter is installed at one of the new stops on 27th St (R or Q). What needs to happen to keep this shelter in our community?

Just saw this bus stop sign on 4th St SW just south of Independence Ave—but D10 only turns north onto 4th, and D1X doesn’t use 4th at all. Pretty sure this sign belongs on Independence just east of 4th. @wmata.com can you double check placement?

Random Q for @wmata.com: What time do new #BetterBus routes take effect on 6/29? How will that impact 24-hour lines? For example, when the scheduled westbound 32 bus leaves Southern Ave at 11:45pm Saturday—does that run as the final 32 or the first D10? Curious how the overnight switch happens. Thx!

Hi! This wasn’t a question about where the stop will be, it’s a question of why that info isn’t on the sign to let riders without smart phones know where it will be? It’s also a question of, when will the new stop at 27+R be installed? Currently there is no sign, shelter, seating, or ADA compliance

We’re 10 days from the @wmata.com Better Bus launch, and I’m concerned about readiness & communication. The Naylor & R stop is being cut, but signs don’t say where to go. The new stop at 27th & R has no signage, and ADA upgrades haven’t started. Riders deserve better planning and communication.

Update I forgot to post yesterday, once the 2nd bus arrived it was also near capacity, but at least had space to pick up the people waiting. In 2023, Route 32 became a 24 hour route meaning it’s one of the 14 busiest routes in the city, yet @wmata.com says it’s not busy enough to increase frequency.

ANC 7B passed a resolution urging WMATA to run Route D10 every 8 min at rush hour, 15 mins midday & weekends. We were told no. With no rail access, our community relies entirely on buses. We’re told our buses don’t have the demand to support higher frequencies, yet they’re often too full to board.

A @wmata Route 32 driver just denied several ppl boarding at E Mkt due to capacity—riders left waiting 20+ mins. This isn’t new; ANC 7B has long said service isn’t meeting demand on the 32 & BetterBus D10 (the new 32) uses the same frequencies. If you’re regularly over capacity you’re under serving.

As I see the new @wmata.com #BetterBus signs roll out across the region I’ve noticed a glaring error: every D1X sign is incorrect. All eastbound signs say the destination is Archives and westbound signs say Naylor Rd. I’ve noticed the same with Bus C37. Please fix before 6/29 to avoid confusion.

Route 32 is a 24 hour bus with 20 minute or better intervals “at all times” and yet here we are during Tuesday rush hour and there’s a 30 minute wait for a bus. What’s happening, @wmata.com?
