Allow me to add my voice to the chorus of commentators who believe that elected Democrats' response to Trump's blitz of lawlessness has been woefully insufficient. With some exceptions, this looks like total surrender. Embarrassing and alarming.

I see some suggestions, in the reporting regarding the OMB impoundment order, that a mere delay in spending appropriated funds is legal. But that's not really true. The delay OMB has ordered specifically contradicts the Impoundment Control Act. A thread.

No better quote from Merrick Garland summarizes why he was the wrong man for the job than this from his farewell speech.

From start to finish, he brought norms to a Trump fight and democracy suffered.

Sadly, it is not perplexing.
