Another interesting Liny from the dying light of Halvana Plantation of a late afternoon last week. A second Cornish site for Maro minutus. This little 1mm thing is weirdly distinctive in the tray...aided very much by a head torch!! @britishspiders.bsky.social @cofnod.org.uk @graemelyons.bsky.social

At the end of last year i collected a spider i was hoping to raise that all changed when this parasitic fungi took hold of it i suspect gibellula sp. Quite fasinating really.

Honourable mentions (this list was very tough to compile and I feel I need a way to cheat a bit):

Clockwise: Gasteracantha doriae, Walckenaeria nodosa, Haplodrassus minor, Walckenaeria corniculans, (thanks @chizz13.bsky.social and @chalkspring.bsky.social)

This Male Walckenaeria acuminata may be common but its a fantastic looking spider, since getting into Linys this Genus is so fasinating. And its great that the male and female of this species can be Identified with a hand Lens.

For me which i shared with @chalkspring.bsky.social is i find it in the trenches in woodland where the leaf litter is deep, i then move all the fresh stuff and sieve the well rotted black layer of leaves seems to work well.

I can see an old record for East Sussex in the early 90's. This record is for West Sussex.

@britishspiders.bsky.social @tylanberry.bsky.social @cofnod.org.uk Really happy to find this spider (another follow-up of Rowley Snazell's old Bucks records). From a site I'd visited previously, but looking at in a new way, thanks to a tip from @chizz13.bsky.social

My 3rd record for Walckenaeria obtusa at this woodland site, all 3 have been in moss under pines, all my W.nudipalpis records from that site are from leaf litter under sweet chestnut trees.
