Poundshop Thatcher riffing on the βno such thing as societyβ theme.
She is a fucking balloon. Just at a time when a half decent Tory leader might have been helpful.

I don't know if it's true, but I heard this rumour that Hannah Spencer is a plumber? It's hard to tell as it never gets mentioned.
Still trying to work out if the little mentioned story I heard about Keir Starmers Dad being a tool-maker had any substance.
Canβt really argue low turnout by-election as within .1 % of GE.
Very bad for Lab.
I need to hit the hay. Looking like a green win protest vote.
I only hope Reform are third.
It's looking like whoever wins in Manchester will do so with a mandate of approx a sixth of the electorate.
A weak victory no matter which way you cut it.
Much like in Scotland in May I have no real clear idea of who the good people of Gorton and Denton should actually vote for..only that it should not and never be Reform. At least in Manchester it isn't compounded by constitutional wankery.
I guess mancs should vote Green for protest but never in GE?
They pulled down Central Quay last year, and are shutting Cardonald. I have PTSD from my time at the former but feel sorry for the printers at the latter.

I can only deduce one of two things...
The Daily Mail are indulging in grey propaganda on behalf of the greens
or
The Daily Mail have sorely misjudged Mancunian attitudes towards drugs and porn.
This is like telling Glaswegians a candidate stands for sectarianism and fish suppers.
When did Steven Pressley morph into Michael Foot?

24.02.2026 07:26 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My pleasure. I don't seek to let anybody off of any hooks, just want to make sure there actually are hooks and it's not just misinformation / unhelpful noise. If we tolerate that, even when it suits our politics, we will ultimately lose out.

24.02.2026 01:41 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Last night should have been the happiest of his life, instead it might well be remembered as the worst. I'm glad he helped make the film though. I think it's a story of hope and is excellent and will do a lot of good for very isolated marginalised people.
23.02.2026 20:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0People have the right to be offended. I do hope they have the perspective to consider intent. I am disgusted by the way this has all been handled and sensationalised. I really feel for John who seems a very decent bloke who has been dealt an unfortunate hand.

It was entirely predictable. Inevitable almost.
What pisses me off is the energy given to demolishing a guy with a neurological condition whilst the apparently fully able and sentient Nigel Farage gets a free ride for genuine visceral deliberate racist dog whistling almost every day.
What pisses me off is that this didn't need to happen. John will be mortified and will have a target on his back. In the room folk seemed to get it, although the event organisers haven't seemed to give proper after care, there should have been a delay on the broadcast, easily done to prevent this.

The film was really very sensitively done. Of course there is humour. But it never felt exploitative to my sensibilities. It wasn't mocking or punching down. And there was plenty of sadness depicted too.
The language last night was horrific I understand the anger shock and hurt the N word causes
I'll be honest, when I saw the original doc I was a young teenager and had never seen anything like it, I've followed John since and it looks to me like he was fully on board with the film and the PR etc around it. He has a cause, he wants to educate and I think has been very successful at that.

One of these men is an actual proven documented racist who wants to be Prime Minister.
One is a campaigner with a neurological syndrome which means he has involuntary verbal outbursts of sometimes very offensive language.
Guess which one the BBC has doubled down on?
Enjoy the break. Thanks for all the work you put in.
23.02.2026 17:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think given the understood nature of Touretteβs syndrome I donβt think making a huge deal about the unintended outburst by the BBC is all that fair when their news team lets actual racists off the hook every single day.
