I have not seen any further announcements. It had to be cancelled in 2023 and was not rescheduled. We have the luxury of the Stone Mountain Hamfest in November so we'll still get a chance this year. Huntsville is a big one and only 4 hours away too.

If you were going to take a ham radio exam at the Atlanta Hamfest, there is still an opportunity to text this weekend.

These nets will be a “Controlled Net”. Net control will only need severe weather reports such as;
Winds greater than 58 mph
Hail the size of dimes or larger
Downed trees
Structural damage
Rain in access of 1” per hour
Possible Wall Cloud or tornadoes spotted

For my ham friends in Metro Atlanta, expect the 146.820 repeater to be linked in to the Peachtree City NWS Skywarnn Net later tonight in anticipation of the severe storms.

Equipment recommendations for participating teams: 435-438 MHz Receiver, optimally with 1 kHz tuning steps and computer control or memories to manage doppler correction. 7-14 Element Yagi Antenna, recommended antenna should have switched circular polarity. Atlanta ARES is running a ham radio net on 146.820 MHz repeater taking storm reports. Use -0.600 MHz offset and CTCSS 146.2.

6:10 AM - Can confirm freezing rain in Chamblee.

NWS Atlanta ay 5:24: "We are starting to get snow and ice reports in the Atlanta Metro. Slick spots may develop on the roads quickly this morning. #gawx". Local news showed I-20 beginning to get some cover.

Just heard a Dekalb County PD radio report that they are seeing snow. "It's coming down now."
