If someone can render photorealism without reference, I think it’s astounding. Whether or not I find it visually interesting depends on other choices. If it’s a hyper-realistic dreamworld, I absolutely want to see it. Obviously art is subjective and everyone is entitled to their opinion!

My art teacher in college said, if you’re going to render something to a photographic level, you may as well just take a photograph.

My consumption of art is heavily influenced by my emotions. I loved Harry Potter until I found out about JK Rowling’s fuckery, and it just put a bad taste in my mouth. I literally can’t enjoy HP anymore. I think some people can compartmentalize the art from the artist and other people can’t.

I drew this after the passing of my uncle, which was my first real experience with grief. I realized that there was a sort of blissful emptiness that came after riding the tearful waves.

Here’s the deal. I haven’t been #drawing lately. Like many creatives, I’ve been stuck in a state of discontent.

It’s not that I’m always unhappy. It’s just hard to PERCEIVE #happiness in the moment. So lately I’ve been diving deep to find what sparks #joy so I can recognize it later. #mentalhealth
