I’ve seen the new Housing Minister and others say this week that house price trends in Canada are basically the same as in other G7 countries. That simply isn’t true, as Hanif Bayat showed in a recent Globe piece.

We really do have a made-in-Canada problem.

every single time a politician bitches about spoiled Americans wanting new tech, new appliances, and new vehicles , the reporter should reply with, “So what progress are you making to ensure Right to Repair?”

Idk, I would class, for example, *yearning* as an emotion, and as a subcategory of desire 🤷

A giant walrus, the size of an elephant, sits on a fiberglass ice platform, in a display hall of a museum. It has long white tusks and pebbly brown skin.

The Horniman Natural History Gallery features this stunning walrus.

It was transported to England, purchased in 1886. There, the taxidermists, having never seen one in the wild, stuffed it until the wrinkles smoothed out.

This is a fully inflated walrus, my friends.
MAXIMUM WALRUS.

Hey All: Google is pulling the "automatically on for anyone over 18" bullshit with Gemini that the Dropbox did for its AI, but I can't afford to ditch Google Drive/Docs/Workspace.

If you have a personal Google Account, first go to gemini.google.com/extensions and turn everything off...

"bypassing traditional milestones" is a funny way of saying that most of us can't afford to buy a house with multiple jobs, won't have children because we can't afford them, most of our degrees are useless, and we are the poorest generation among all current living generations

Also @vandroidhelsing.bsky.social don't think I didn't notice the white lead, vermilion, AND orpiment being painted on the toys - I'm too deep into SCA scribal not to know which pigments will really mess up your day 😍

A photo of groundcherries (Alkekengi) in a garden in winter. The round, orange, cherry tomato-like fruits are suspended in the center of pendulous, vaguely heart-shaped husks made of networks of dried beige veins. The husks have a delicate, skeletal, lattice-like structure, reminiscent of laser-cut papercraft.

In winter through early spring, you can sometimes find unspoiled, still-bright groundcherries sitting in the latticed remnants of their husks, like hearts suspended in paper ribcages
